So, I got a new vanity area.

And I am absolutely freaking in love with it.

I went ahead and got a desk and a "media storage unit" (a bookcase, to me) for my room, so that I wouldn't spend an hour leaning over the bathroom sink trying to apply makeup without glasses on. I originally had a small table mirror from Walmart there, but it was tiny, and low to the table, and just a hot mess, so I bit the bullet and went and got myself a legit vanity mirror (best money I've ever spent) and I ADORE THIS AREA. So, to commemorate my purchases, I went ahead and put my haul to use! Behold:

Ee!

A new vanity mirror means sassier photos for this blog that nobody reads, but I'm incredibly excited about it, so let's go ahead and get into the details.

FACE:
Primer: None, this time; this was just a quick face 'cause I was bored.
Foundation: L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation in Cool Sable (applied with the E.L.F. Powder Brush)
Under Eye and Dark Spot Concealer: a mix of LA Girl HD Pro Concealer in Fawn, and Nicka K HD Concealer in Dark Chocolate (which I'm surprised worked so well); (applied haphazardly with the E.L.F. Foundation Brush)
Setting Powder (for Concealer): Ruby Kisses HD Set 'n Forget Setting Powder in Invisible (applied with brush that comes with the CoverGirl Cheeker/Bronzer powders)
(Very Mild) Contour: Nicka K HD Concealer in Dark Chocolate (applied with le fingers)

BROWS:
Filler: Wet 'N Wild Coloricon Brow Pencil in Brunettes Do It Better
Browbone Highlight: LA Girl HD Pro Concealer in Fawn (applied with a brush...that I have lost. It was E.L.F., and now I desperately need another one)
I'm gonna get my eyebrows done one day, you guys, I promise.

EYES:
Primer: Ruby Kisses 24 Hour Eyeshadow Magic
Shadows (See Palette Key for number references)
  • Base: Dreamer from the Tarte Tartelette
  • Transition: #31 in the E.L.F. All About Nude Limited Edition Palette
  • Crease: Bombshell from the Tarte Tartelette
  • Lid: Uncensored, from the LORAC Unzipped Palette
  • Outer V: Untamed, from the LORAC Unzipped Palette, and Black Market, from the Urban Decay Smoky Palette, as a definer/guide for my eyeliner
  • Inner Third: Free Spirit, from the Tarte Tartelette, with High, from the Urban Decay Smoky Palette over top
  • Inner Corner: Free Spirit, from the Tarte Tartelette (I think), with the ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Fringe over top
  • Lower Lid: the ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Lace
Clearly, I love using eyeshadows. That's why I buy so many.

Liner: Absolute New York Eye Expert Nano Liner on the top lid, Black Radiance Eye Appeal Ultra Rich Retractable Eye Pencil in Beautiful in the water line
Mascara: A combo of the L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes and the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascaras

BLUSH:
Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze

HIGHLIGHT:
Ruby Kisses All Over Glow Bronzing Powder in Deep Glow

LIPS:
Lipstick: L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Spice
Liner: Jordana Cosmetics Easyliner Eyeliner in Lavish Brown

I had so much fun and it was so much easier sitting at a table with a big ass mirror and a light and everything and it's great. Makeup is just great.

What a great day to be cute.

Had class today, but because it was cold as hell I decided to drive to school over taking the bus, and gave my self time for a nap, a sandwich, and a mild face application, and let me tell you: I FUCKING LOVED IT.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I don't care what anyone says, yes. I used the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation today (Cappuccinos ftw) and IT WAS AMAZING-sorry.

FACE:
Primer - E.L.F. Mineral Infused Primer
Foundation - Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in Cappuccino (yes)
Powder - Milani Multitasker Face Powder in Dark Tan

EYES:
Primer - Ruby Kisses 24 Hour Eyeshadow Magic
Shadows

  • Transition: #22 in the E.L.F. All About Nude Limited Edition Palette
  • Lid: #28 in the E.L.F. All About Nude Limited Edition Palette on the inner and outer thirds;  Gilded in the Absolute NY ICON Exposed Palette in the center
Liner - E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
Mascara - L'Oreal Paris Butterfly Intenza Mascara

BLUSH:
Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze (is that even a surprise?)

HIGHLIGHTER:
Ruby Kisses All Over Glow Bronzing Powder in Deep Glow

LIPS:
Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip in Nude Nuance
Smashbox Always Sharp Liner in Nude Dark

Y'all. Y'all. The foundation was everything. I wore that mess for at least six hours (after my impromptu haul after class) and I didn't start getting shiny until well after I got home. See below:

Immediately after I got home: no shine.

I usually can't wait to get makeup off of my face as soon as I get home, but I sat around and wore it for another two hours after I finished moving around for the day, and barely felt anything on my face. I think I finally found my perfect foundation - thank goodness.

Alright! I'm gonna go write now. I'll be back with a new face soon!

Super Duper Mega Epic (Brick and Mortar) Haul

So...I lost my damn mind today.

I got my hands on a little extra money (thank you, college), and proceeded to go down my entire wish list of makeup goodies and bought everything in sight.

Excuse my messy bed; I only have my room and a folding table to work with here

Alright, let's get into all the shit I bought!
From (general) left to right:

  • ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows in Coconut, Game Face, Get Lucky, KathleenLights, Mooning, Empire, Etiquette, Hustle, Lace and Fringe
    • This is the only thing that wasn't from an actual store, because they just so happened to arrive on the same day that I lost my damn mind
  • Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Espresso and Bella Rouge
  • Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs Lipstick in Maple Kiss
  • Hard Candy Stroke Of Gorgeous Eye Marker in Little Black Dress
  • L'Oreal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara
  • Ruby Kisses Auto Lip Liner in Espresso
  • Ruby Kisses Big Lash Mascara
  • Absolute New York Eye Expert Nano Liner
  • LA Girl Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Palette in Smoky
  • LA Girl Matte Pigment Gloss in Secret
  • Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette
  • Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette
  • Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette
  • Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette
  • LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette

If there was anyone that thought my addiction to eyeshadow palettes was fake, you should know that I had to buy a second set of drawers specifically for them, because I ran out of room:

Anyway, I'm super uber excited to try all of this stuff out and show you what I end up doing! Also, this is only the first half of the haul (hence the Brick and Mortar specification); there's an entire other half of this haul to come, strictly from online purchases. I've bought so much crap that I could probably do daily posts on swatches for two weeks.

Again, thank you, college.

Apparently, my foundation is too dark.

That's what the man at the Mica Beauty kiosk said when he was trying to get my money (which I didn't have on me, thank God, 'cause I would've been out of 70 bucks right now). As he wiped off half of my face, that was his sentiment.

A part of me kind of felt that way about the foundation I used today (the Maybelline Fit Me! Shine-Free+Balance stick in Coconut), but it matched ten times better than the one I got in Cappuccino (the next one down) at first, so I went with it. But after the comment was made, I couldn't help but wonder if I had wasted my time (and money) buying two sticks of the stuff. I mean, it's not as drastically different as the L'Oreal True Match N8 had been on my face (entirely too cool; I'm a warm undertone kind of girl), but I don't want there to be a difference at all.

And so, of course, I went shopping with grocery money.

I hightailed it to Walgreens on my way home and picked up the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless foundation in Cappuccino, which looks nothing like the Cappuccino stick. Why, Maybelline...why.

The Cappuccino matches about as flawless as a lucky guess could match, and it looked matte! That's what I need, because Lord knows Mama's face is an oil well. I put it on half of my face, and then applied my L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation in Soft Sable (C6) to the other half, and the only real difference that I could see was a difference in undertone:

On your left is the Maybelline Cappuccino; on your right is the L'Oreal Soft Sable; in the middle is a loopy looking me.

I can deal with that difference, but the only problem I really had was the lack of matte that the Soft Sable provides. I mean, granted, it says smack dab on the label that it's supposed to provide a healthy, luminous glow, but luminous glow always seem to equate to oily nastiness on my face.
This time, on your left is the Soft Sable; on your right is the Cappuccino

I could always try and set it with the Milani powder that I normally use, or some of the Ruby Kisses HD Set n' Forget powder that I'm dying to by a colored version of the next time I get my hands on some disposable income. But one thing I do know is that the Cappuccino matches. Another thing I know is that there are a lot of Cappuccinos in Northwest Houston, so my next bottle (and there will be a next bottle, because I'm a chipmunk) will most likely be ordered.

I had class today

Jesus, I don't know how I'm going to make it through this semester, when I can hardly understand one professor, and can hardly focus on another. I've been through worse though, I suppose.

Because I drove today (I'm not the one for wearing a face of makeup while huffing and puffing down the street to the bus stop) I decided to put on a little make up. It was cloudy and overcast today, so I decided to keep my highlight very subtle.

Le look:

FACE:
Primer - E.L.F. Mineral Infused Primer
Foundation - Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free + Balance Foundation stick in Coconut (355)
Face Powder - Milani Multitasker Face Powder in Dark Tan

EYES:
Primer - Ruby Kisses 24 Hour Eyeshadow Magic
Shadows (SEE PALETTE KEY)
  • Base/Transition Shade - #5 in the Elf Studio Endless Eyes Pro Mini Palette in Natural
  • Crease - Stunning (Ruby Kisses Big N' Beautiful)
  • Lid - Divine (Ruby Kisses Big N' Beautiful)
  • Outer V - #2 in the Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in I'm Getting Sunburned
Eyeliner - Rimmel London ScandalEyes Gel Eyeliner in Black (001)
Mascara - Maybelline Volum'Express Falsies Flared

BLUSH:
Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze

HIGHLIGHT:
#2 in the E.L.F. Bronzer Palette (not in the Palette Key yet)

 LIPS:
Le Marc Lip Creme by Marc Jacobs in Mahoghany

(-record scratch-)

Yes I know, that's not a beauty supply or drugstore brand CLEARLY, but I couldn't find a nude lipstick that perfectly matched my lips, so I made the mistake of letting Sephora find it for me. My lips are expensive, apparently. I'm still on the lookout for a color equivalent, and I'll let you know when I find it.

Again, not much razzle dazzle going on today, but it was just a quick remedy for a bare face. Hopefully I'll have more exciting events to attend in the future, besides school.

Le Palette Key

Okay, so.

When you have a bunch of beauty supply/drugstore eyeshadow/bronzer/blush palettes like I do, you notice that a lot of the colors inside do not come with names. I think I have...five palettes that are named, and I have at least fifteen to twenty palettes of various items, because my makeup weakness is eyeshadow palettes (some people are weak for lipstick, some for concealer, some for foundation...you catch my drift). They're great to have and use, but not exactly helpful when it comes to telling other people what I did to achieve a look. Which is where Le Palette Key comes in. Below you will find pictures of all of the unnamed palettes that I have, with their product names, and numbers on each of the colors. In each blog post I will do my best to remember to refer to this key, so that you can replicate a look (if you wanted to -shrug-) to the utmost accuracy. I'm an organizational freak like that, so I figured I would put it to use.

I hope it helps!
